Western Union money transfer service allows you to send and receive money worldwide within minutes through over the counter service across most of the bank branches in Kenya. This service is available to both Bank account holders and non-account holders.

Some of the banks you can receive money from Western Union are:

  • Co-operative Bank of Kenya
  • Family Bank
  • KCB (Kenya Commercial Bank)
  • Diamond Trust Bank
  • Post Bank
  • UBA Bank Kenya

Receive Money

To receive money:

  • Request for the tracking number (MTCN) from the person sending you money.
  • Visit any of the listed Bank(s) branches near to you with your MTCN and national identity card or a valid passport.
  • Complete the Western Union Receive Money form
  • Review and sign the receipt
  • The teller will give you the money in local currency (Kenya Shillings) and a copy of the receipt

Send Money

To send money:

  • Visit any of the bank(s) branches listed above.
  • Complete the Western Union Send Money form by inputting the amount you are sending, the destination country and the name of the person you are sending the funds to
  • Give the teller the completed form with the applicable funds (including transaction fee)
  • The teller may ask for additional information such as your national identity card and a test question/answer (where applicable)
  • Review and sign the receipt
  • The teller will process the transaction and give you a receipt and the tracking number (MTCN) for the transaction
  • Save the receipt and share the tracking number (MTCN) with your receiver for pick-up
